Government announces nationwide HIV/Aids testing campaign

The Government will conduct a nationwide HIV/Aids testing drive to encourage Kenyans know their status.

Health Cabinet Secretary,  James Macharia said the campaign aims to reduce further transmission of the virus from mothers to their children. Mr. Macharia was speaking in Taita Taveta County where first lady, Margaret Kenyatta handed over a fully kitted mobile clinic donated by auto-dealer General Motors East Africa to enable county residents’ access health care services.

The mobile clinic will serve as a level 4 hospitals to provide full services including male circumcision to reduce prevalence of HIV and minor operations. Mobile clinics are an effective way for delivering health services to disadvantaged Kenyans, who live in inaccessible areas.

They are expected to assist the Government meet its goal of providing free maternity service launched last year to eradicate maternal deaths..
