Mbuthia heads to Sports Tribunal to challenge Kioni’s election

Even before the newly formed Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) begins work, a case is already waiting after former Kenya Volleyball Federation Nairobi branch chairman, Moses Mbuthia threatened to challenge the election of Waithaka Kioni.

Mr. Mbuthia, who unsuccessfully vied for the Kenya Volleyball Federation’s (KVF) top seat and lost to Mr. Kioni in April claims the exercise was flawed.

“We are not in a hurry but that is something in the offing,” said Mr. Mbuthia adding that they are still consulting ”our lawyers”.

It is not yet clear who Mr. Mbuthia is working with as Charles Nyaberi, who also lost the first vice chairman’s post to Martin Makokha has distanced himself.

KVF second vice chairman Kipkemei Sirma has, however, rubbished those claims.

“I know he (Mbuthia) is a busy body capable of anything but we are ready for him,” said Mr. Sirma.
