Ministry of Information to represent Kenya in USA Club Championships

Two-time Kenya Netball Federation (KNF) Super One league champions Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MOIC) will represent Kenya in the World Club championships slated for November 17-26 in Miami, USA.

MOIC which was placed third in the last World Club championships held in South Africa will send a contingent of 10 players and five officials who will jet out on November 15.

The team under the tutelage of the KNF fixtures secretary Millicent Busolo comprises seven national team players including captain Catherine Abwao, assisted by Parin Simiyu, Joan Matingi, Linah Tarus, Caroline Achieng’, Grace Etyang and Cynthia Wanyama, sister to Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama.

Others in the team that finished second in the Africa Club Championships are Nancy Akinyi, Susan Wanambisi and Pauline Ramadhan.

Busolo said South Africa and Uganda are the other African teams invited for the tournament adding that teams from England and Jamaica posed the greatest threat.

Cabinet Secretary for Communication and Information Dr Fred Matiang’i said they are committed to supporting the team and praised the club for bringing glory to the ministry and the country.

Among the trophies won by MOIC include the KNF League, Ushirika Day, Magereza Cup, Isaac Kalua tournament, Nairobi Sports House, Jamhuri Day, Kenya Power, Marie Stopes, Nairobi County, KNF Cup, Kamata, Cotu, Mount Kenya, Charles Nyaberi and the runners-up East and Central Africa trophy.
