PMS Group Chief shortlisted for prestigious regional business leaders’ awards

Professional Marketing Services (PMS) Group CEO Joanne Mwangi has been shortlisted in the prestigious annual All African Business Leaders Awards (AABLA) East Africa.

AABLA East Africa is an annual event that honours excellence among regional business leaders that have had an impact on their industry and the community that they serve.

Ms Mwangi, a seasoned marketer and accomplished business woman, has been shortlisted in two award categories – the East African Business Woman of the Year and the East African Entrepreneur of the Year. The awards are sponsored by Johnnie Walker and business news outlet CNBC Africa.

This is yet another feather in Ms Mwangi’s cap having scored many firsts in the country, including being the first woman to be awarded a Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) Warrior Award. PMS Group which Ms Mwangi set up 15 years ago, emerged overall winner in the Kenya Top 100 Mid -Sized Companies Survey 2010, where she also bagged the Entrepreneur of the Year award.

“The nomination in itself is an honour. It is a regional recognition of business excellence and is a great vote of confidence not only in me as an individual but PMS Group as a company,” said Ms Mwangi.

The AABLA East Africa award ceremony is set to take place September 20 in Nairobi.

Since inception, Ms Mwangi has over the last fifteen years grown PMS from a small local outfit to a mid-sized regional marketing and communications agency with four independent subsidiaries in its stable.

Apart from her business, Ms Mwangi wears many hats and has served on the boards of many organisations. She is currently the Chair of Federation of Women Entrepreneur Associations (FEWA), as well as Eastern Africa Women
