Siaya High Court Presiding Judge Daniel Ogembo has passed on.
He was found dead at his home in Siaya on Wednesday morning by his driver when he went to pick him up.
The driver got concerned when the judge did not answer his calls or respond to his texts, an unusual behaviour that forced him to seek help to break into his house.
Justice Ogembo had reportedly complained he was not feeling well yesterday (Tuesday).
His body has been moved to the mortuary for a postmortem.
Ogembo practised law from 1993 until 2004 when he joined the judicial service as a Magistrate.
He was appointed Judge of the High Court in 2016 and has since served at the Eldoret, Milimani and Siaya High Courts.
The judiciary is yet to recover from the sudden death of the Judge of the High Court of Kenya and Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission Justice David Majanja last week and that of Makadara Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti who was shot while on duty last month.
Chief Justice Martha Koome mourned Majanja saying the entire Judiciary was heartbroken by his untimely passing.
Meanwhile, Siaya County Governor James Orengo has termed the death of Justice Ogembo as tragic.
“I join the entire judiciary in mourning the tragic death of Hon. Justice Daniel Ogembo Ogola who was the presiding Judge at Siaya High Court. Justice Ogembo had a marvellous ability to listen intently, reflect quietly and then interject, usually with brief few words that brought clarity in the courtroom. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he mourned.
Justice Ogembo holds a Masters of Arts (LLM) degree in International Studies from University of Nairobi.
He has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the same university and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
He was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1993.
